Points Races Round 01
Thank you to Lisa Engelbrecht and Claire Tucak for timekeeping and Bella Alcorn for water safety. Conditions were quite challenging and only two buoys were able to be set correctly, the third coming off in the shorebreak, dragging the anchor off the rescue board and end up too close to shore! Apologies to Susie Defrancesco for starting the Board Race without her (awarded a point as compensation). Thanks to the IRB Crew for retrieving the buoys from the F. E. Ford Cup.
Points Races Round 15
Thank you to Andrew Engelbrecht for conducting Points Races in the Handicappers absence at the Busselton Jetty Swim. Thank you to Andrew Engelbrecht, Fiona McLarty, Harry Pazin, Hannah Engelbrecht, Peter Weston for timekeeping and recording. Conditions were tough with wind and weed. In the Long Run, Champ was tackled by a dog on Vera View Beach and hit the sand. He recovered and ran well. Peter and Lisa raced to the line in the Board Race for a draw! Welcome back to Points Races to Callum Griffiths.
Points Races Round 16
With the Handicapper and some regular participants at the Masters State Championships and other regular participants away for the weekend, unfortunately Points Races was not formally conducted. A Long Swim and Board Race were held, but times were not recorded. All those known to have participated have been awarded points for participation. Apologies for failing to organise a timekeeper. An error in the calculation of the Boards Race points has been corrected, to include the handicaps.
Points Races Round 17
Thank you to Ali Stickland and Bella Alcorn for timekeeping and recording. Conditions were calm with the occasional shorebreak. The next Points Races is Sunday 16 March, given State Championships on 2 March (Nippers and Beach) and 9 March (Ocean).
Points Races Round 18
Points Races Round 18 coincided with the Youth Club Championships, so thank you for waiting whilst the final events were run - several parents were handling for the Iron so we also waited for them. Thanks to Tim Tucak, Georgia Pegrum and Champ Phetiam for timekeeping and John Henderson for water safety. The Run Swim Run was slightly shorter to avoid the skis on the beach. The Board Race was the Youth Club Championships board course. Stirling got caught on the first buoy!
Points Races Round 19
A quiet day following the Club Championships yesterday and the Nipper End of Season celebrations this morning. Thanks to Lydia Defrancesco and Davina Goldthorpe for time keeping and Neve Stilwell for water safety. The Run Swim Run was triangular around the patrol flags and the central buoy. Confusing for some, who did an extra run lap. Now that Nippers has finished for the season, Points Races will be at 9.00 am the next three weeks.
Points Races Round 20
Thanks to Lainie Gara for timing and Cassie (I think!) for water safety. Good to see Alen Pazin running Nipper Points Races alongside - some great future competitors there. Windy conditions - ENE, 30 to 45 km/hr! A little overcast and 'sharky', but water was lovely. A good crew, although Hendo and Dani missed the 9 am start (Hendo arrived in time to do the Board Race only). The wind made the Board Race dicey for weak paddlers (like Lisa on a rescue board who thought she might be having an impromptu holiday at Rotto!). Thank to Lisa Engelbrecht for running Points Races in the Handicappers absence at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
Points Races Round 21
Big crowd at points races today which was great - amazing conditions, glassy ocean. Cocky did the timing and Lydia DeFrancesco did water safety. Thank to Lisa Engelbrecht for running Points Races in the Handicappers absence at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

Points Races Round 22
Points Races Season Finale! Following the Caris Cup Club Marathon, the Points Races Season Finale was held with Double Points! The start time was delayed about half an hour given the finishing times in the Caris Cup. Thanks to Ali Stickland, Liv Gilmour, Bridie Swingler and Jo Turton for timekeeping and the Youth for water safety. The Long Swim felt long following the Caris Cup which included two Long Swims! The Run Swim Run felt long following the Caris Cup which included running and swimming. The Long Run felt long following the Caris Cup which included three Long Runs! (and the beach was narrow for those on soft sand). The Board Race was much shorter than Aussies 2025! Thank you to all participants, timekeepers and water safety in Points Races for Season 2024/25!
