Points Races Round 2020/21 – Results and Standings

Points Races Provisional Programme We think the programme for Swanny Points Races Season 202021 will be along these lines. Then again we might just change our minds at some point. Points Races Guide Read the Points Races Guide for the what, why, who and how as well as how to win of Points Races! Points Races – What, Who, How, Why Rev 2 Points Races Round 01 Results Round 01 Standings Round 01 A beautiful sunny Sunday morning without much wind greeted those at Points Races Round 01. What was missing were permanent buoys and then to our surprise the temporary buoys as well. Nick Hudson gets negative points this week for lending the temporary buoys to North Cott. Jason Williams gets double points for preparing for permanent buoys and for acting as timekeeper. We'll split these points with Lochie who oversaw Jason. Queries - Assuming Sharna is Shona Hay ; Jess is Jessica Lynch ; Lauren is Lauren Brayford ;  Matt is Matt Cureton ; Andre is Andy Donaldson. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 02 Results Round 02 Standings Round 02 Another fantastic Sunday morning with a temperature above 30°C for Points Races Round 02. Shoreward permanent buoys were set this morning so thanks to Jo Rooke for dropping in an apex. Nick Hudson had his new ski down and board training paid off for Jules and Tim. With Proficiency joining for the Run-Swim-Run there was a massive turnout. Thanks to Ben Leonard for timekeeping and recording. Alex Aberle-Leeming, Jason Williams and James Anderson set the remaining permanent buoys later in the day. Double points for this group. Queries - Assuming Paul is Paul Linabury ; Matt is Matt Power ; Lauren is Lauren Brayford ; Amanda B is Amanda Bond. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 03 Results Round 03 Standings Round 03 First week of Nippers and the weather wasn't kind. Those involved in Nippers were already cold by the time Points Races commenced, so the program was reduced to a Long Swim and a Long Run. Anyone who did both will be credited with a synthetic Run Swim Run time. The highlight was Rauol timekeeping and recording from the Patrol Shelter with competitors described by clothing colour "Pink cap", "Blue cap", "Orange rash", "Orange rash" and "Black bathers". Queries - Assuming Lucy is Lucie Vidler ; Lauren is Lauren Brayford ; Amanda B is Amanda Bond. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 04 Results Round 04 Standings Round 04 The weather more was conducive to beach activities and Proficiency meant a large crowd for the Run Swim Run. Thanks to Lachie Broomhall for timekeeping. There was a board race whilst the Handicapper was providing Nipper Water Safety. No times were recorded so we'll see what we do with these results. Queries - Assuming no name recorded is Unknown ; Charlotte is Charlotte Perry ; Katt is Kate Hutchinson ; Peter is Peter Klauz ; Charles R is Charles Beasley. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 05 Results Round 05 Standings Round 05 The Long Swim was slightly shorter, starting south, south buoy, north buoy, finishing north. A few large sets came through as the rear of the pack finished. Callum wasn't there! Next was a Run Swim Run Swim Run, with runs between the cones and swims to the north buoy and the south buoy. After the Long Run an organic Water Flags was conducted. Queries - Assuming Pete is Peter Klauz ; Matt Nicolson might join the Club ; Amy and Amiee Rolston is Amy Rolston ; Shona is Shauna Golden ; Little Briggy is Robert (Robbie) Brigg. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 06 Results Round 06 Standings Round 06 Thank you to Sarah Hammond for running Points Races in my absence. By all accounts Points Races ran smoother, on time and with far less debate/discussion over the course(s). Queries - Assuming Shona is Shona Hay ; Sharie is Shari Freeman. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 07 Results Round 07 Standings Round 07 The morning after the President's Cocktail Party the night before, so no sign of Mim. Plenty of others including Ross Bosworth having a swim. Queries - Assuming Sarah is Sarah Hammond ; Nat is Natalie Owens. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 08 Results Round 08 Standings Round 08 Thanks to Ray for taking control and keeping time. Sea breeze came in just as we started. Not quite sure which Amy or which Sam raced and there was Briggy, Briggy Jnr and Briggy Snr in the Long Run. Sydney missed Points Races due to kittens. Probably the most original excuse in a while! Queries - Assuming Sam is Samantha Barnett ; Amy is Amy Prosser ; Shuna is Shauna Golden ; Briggy is Robert (Robbie) Brigg ; Briggy Jnr is James (Jamie) Brigg ; Briggy Snr is Peter Brigg. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 09 Results Round 09 Standings Round 09 Rough and windy conditions that had Points Racers less than enthused. Several choose to exit the Long Swim about halfway through. Proficiency joined us for the Run Swim Run. Earlier a Caris Cup Club Marathon was held. Now the philosophical debate over whether if an eligible competitor crosses the line first but the Management Committee doesn't see it, did they win? Queries - Assuming Justion is Justin Owens in the Long Swim and that he did the Run Swim Run. ; Juliet is Julia Meyer. If you disagree get in contact. Points Races Round 10 Results Round 10 Standings Round 10 Presidents' Cup at 8 am Nipperfest at 9 am Points Races at 10 am post Santa. Sea breeze was in so consideration will be given to early starts for January whilst Nippers rest. Thanks to Kate Hutchinson for timekeeping. Presidents' Cup swim times also count for the Long Swim. Points Races Round 11 Results Round 11 Standings Round 11 With Nippers on holidays we had the beach to ourselves. Craft at 9.30 am then Points Races from about 10.15 am. Nick H and Rod P went off prematurely and had no energy left for the ski race. No energy to carry their skis of the beach either. Rod had no energy to lift his arms. Stingray sighted in Long Swim near the middle buoy. Ray not sighted in Long Swim or any other events. Points Races Round 12 Results Round 12 Standings Round 12 The hot easterlies were gone and the sea breeze was in, so choppy conditions. Eventually craft started as newcomers kept arriving. Leesa struggled in the first start so well started together. Justin, Briggy and Luke all came off their skis so technically Tim was the first to complete the course without incident. Same with the finish of the board race as Jules, Ray and Briggy all came off their craft so technically Tim was the first to complete the course without incident. Briggy also paddled over the buoy. The Stewards will consider if this is an acceptable completion of the course. Long Swim was slightly shorter to save time given the chop. Kath arrived the Oldham Memorial Cup either a week earlier or two hours late. Briggy tripped in the Run Swim Run. Elliott did the Long Run with a sore toe. Amy front page of the Western Suburbs Weekly Rolston came down once we had finished for the morning! Points Races Round 13 Results Round 13 Standings Round 13 Super Sunday with Oldham Memorial Cup counting towards Long Swim points. With Points Races in between Ocean M Mixed Teams Event and the Swanbourne Cup Mixed Board Rescue, it was a quieter affair. Long Swim was around two buoys and the string line, so a chance to see how it needed to be reset, Thanks to Leesa for timekeeping. Points Races Round 14 Results Round 14 Standings Round 14 Nippers were back and so were those from Country Carnival. A quiet day on the beach with good conditions for racing. Rob listened to the wrong people and swum the Long Long Swim. Big field for the Run Swim Run. Some walkers in the Long Run. Leesa tried her new hot pink board in the Board Race and only Ben was left for the Ski Race. Thanks to Jenn and Annie for timekeeping. Points Races Round 15 Results Round 15 Standings Round 15 Normally post Ocean Classic and Blue Party is a quiet morning at Points Races. But without these excuses perhaps it was that there was no Nippers, that you had to wear a mask or that it was raining. Either way the exciting and difficult surf conditions forecast by Terry didn't eventuate as it was calm and still. Some debate over stingers so we swam the northern half of the course only and still got stung. Sasha and Lily did the Long Run wearing wetsuits because of the rain. Thanks to Megan Stibbard for timekeeping and Peter Brigg for water safety. Points Races Round 16 Results Round 16 Standings Round 16 The F. E. Ford Cup was held as the Long Swim and the Duncan McPhail Trophy as the Long Run. Given the exertion of those events the Run-Swim-Run was based on the SRC 100 m 100 m 100 m model. Even the Ski and Board races where shorter. Points Races Round 17 Results Round 17 Standings Round 17 A quiet morning for the Seniors post the Rottnest Channel Swim, but with the excitement of the Under 14 / Under 15 / Under 17 Club Championships in the morning. Points Races Round 18 and 19 Results Round 18 and 19 Standings Round 18 and 19 The Season Finale Double Points Points Races.
