F. E. Ford Cup Results Season 2019/20

Congratulations to Peter Klauz who is the winner* of the F. E. Ford Cup for Season 2019/20. F. E. Ford Cup Twenty three swimmers contested the F. E. Ford Cup, using the n+1 th version of the handicaps. First to the finish line was Chris Hazell who walked back having exited the water at the turning buoy (once you've swum 800 m in one direction no real point in swimming 800 m back again!). Next was Leesa Equid who declared herself ineligible pre-race to avoid a shoulder injury for the Rottnest Channel Swim (started with the go markers Ninette and Jason to avoid any competitiveness overcoming her). In the next pack was Matt Power, Peter Klauz, Kath Hammond and Sydney Hodges. Matt and Kath were ineligible to win and Peter beat Sydney up the beach. Peter had a fancy swim suit and drafted off Sydney the whole way, annoyingly tapping her feet the whole way! Fastest was Callum Griffiths. Thanks to Jack C for water safety.

*Until the Stewards read 2.5.1 (c) (i) of the Surf Sports Manual: Swimwear to be worn in all SLSA ocean competition swim legs and pool rescue competition swim legs (including special events) must comply with the following standards: (i) Swimwear worn by males shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. There is no mention of drafting in the Surf Sports Manual not whether you can 'touch' another competitor during a race, only that you cannot deliberately impede them at the start or finish.
